With the first South African Endurance Series (SAES) opening race at Red Star this Saturday March 9th Backdraft Racing the Durban based Cobra manufacturer is once again breaking new ground.
The 2024 SAES Series will begin with Backdraft again trailblazing by showcasing Women in Motorsport. Already a leader in ethnic diversity Backdraft introduced the first driver of colours line up in SAES featuring Bapi Rabaluza, Karshan Naidoo, Kwanele Letlaka, and Xolela Njumbuxa, skillfully managed by Sandile Khumalo. Now in its latest bold move Backdraft smashes the glass ceiling in gender equality in Motorsport. Backdraft Racing is now proud to introduce an all women driver line up for the very first time in the SAES. Partnering with Fabienne Lanz, the renowed South African female Karting Champion will lead the charge joined by the dynamic talent of Lonika Maartens. ‘I am excited for this opportunity to join the dynamic Backdraft Racing Team” stated Lanz, “the Backdraft Team has shown they are extremely competitive and both myself and Lonika can’t wait to challenge the drivers on the grid “.
